In 2004 I was the video side of a 2 person audio/video EFP unit for a HRW Spanish Language Department proof of concept for that year's ancillary DVD product. We shot about a dozen little videos for HRW saving over $10K over outsourced production. I shot on mini-DV using a Canon XL-1, did the lighting and blocking as well as editing them all on the in-house AVID Express.
